Duane Hons has been a business owner, software engineer, magazine editor, outdoor journalist, professional fisherman, a swim team coach and soccer coach.
He grew up in a small town in northern Montana that has many of the same characteristics of the fictional Diamond. He has fished and hunted across Montana for nearly his whole life and grew up in a law enforcement family.
He and his wife, Stephanie, raised a daughter, Kayli and a son, Collyn. Now with the kids grown and on their own, they share their home in Montana with two loving dogs.
